BlackRock Cuts Bitcoin ETF Swap Minimum to $1 Million
BlackRock, one of the world’s largest asset managers, offers a regulated route for investors to gain bitcoin exposure through a spot exchange-traded fund held in conventional brokerage accounts. For institutions and wealthy holders with bitcoin in self-custody, the minimum size for swapping those assets into ETF shares can materially affect transaction costs, liquidity and the appeal of moving capital into regulated markets.
BlackRock has lowered the minimum size for such bitcoin ETF swaps to $1 million, according to a report published on Aug. 26. The change could make conversions accessible to a broader group of large holders and potentially channel more assets into the regulated ETF market. The report did not specify the previous minimum, the effective date or initial transaction volumes, leaving the impact on net fund inflows yet to be established.
