Kenya Puts 30 Million Academic Credentials on Avalanche

The Kenya National Examinations Council, or KNEC, oversees national examinations, awards certificates and verifies qualifications issued under its authority. Fraudulent academic records can distort hiring and university admissions while undermining confidence in the education system, making fast and tamper-resistant digital verification increasingly important for employers, institutions and public agencies.

KNEC said on Aug. 3, 2026, that it had deployed more than 30 million academic records to a verification platform powered by the Avalanche blockchain. The system allows employers and higher-education institutions to authenticate credentials online, replacing slower manual checks and reducing the risk of forgery or record tampering. No financial terms for the deployment were disclosed.
