Justin Sun Accuses WLFI of Hiding Smart-Contract Backdoor and Illegally Freezing Assets
World Liberty Financial (WLFI) is a DeFi project closely linked to the Trump family that centers on token-based governance. TRON founder Justin Sun alleges that its smart contract contains undisclosed blacklist and freeze powers, potentially placing governance under centralized control. The dispute raises questions about ownership of on-chain assets and smart-contract transparency.
Sun said he had been affected since 2025 and recently formally sued WLFI, accusing the project of freezing his 595 million WLFI tokens without cause. The assets are worth about $75 million. He also demanded disclosure of the wallets controlling the freeze powers and called a governance proposal a “trap.” WLFI denied the allegations and threatened to take the dispute to court.
