Marvell Joins S&P 500 as AI Boom Fuels Investor Optimism

1 reports · First detected 2026-06-06 · Last active 2026-06-06

Marvell Technology supplies custom compute silicon, high-speed networking, storage and optical interconnect products used in cloud and AI data centers. Its expanding role matters as hyperscalers pour capital into AI infrastructure and seek alternatives to relying solely on scarce, costly general-purpose accelerators. Growth in custom chips and data-center connectivity helped the company clear the profitability requirement for S&P 500 eligibility, underscoring how the AI boom is reshaping major U.S. equity benchmarks.

S&P Dow Jones Indices said on June 5 that Marvell would replace Pool Corp in the S&P 500 before trading opened on June 22, 2026. The announcement lifted Marvell shares nearly 6% after hours. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had called it the “next trillion-dollar company” at Computex on June 2, helping the stock gain about 29% that week; its market value reached $276.81 billion at the June 5 close. Marvell also expects custom-chip revenue to exceed $10 billion in fiscal 2029.
