Interactive Brokers Opens Crypto Trading to Retail Investors in the European Economic Area
Interactive Brokers, best known for multi-asset trading in stocks, options and futures, has added crypto assets to the same account, allowing retail clients in the European Economic Area to trade without using a separate exchange. The service is offered by authorized firm Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited, with trading and custody powered by Zero Hash infrastructure.
Interactive Brokers announced the launch on March 31, 2026. Eligible clients can trade 11 crypto assets around the clock, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and XRP. Commissions range from 0.12% to 0.18% of trade value, with no added spreads or custody fees. The service covers the European Economic Area, a market of about 450 million people.
