Taiwan Regulator Targets Q3 Launch for Margin Trading Dashboard
Taiwan’s margin maintenance ratio is a key gauge of risk in stock financing, indicating whether leveraged investors may face collateral calls or forced selling. A gap between privately calculated estimates and official figures, caused by differing methodologies, has prompted accusations that authorities were withholding information. The dispute has sharpened scrutiny of whether investors receive timely and equal access to data on credit trading risks.
The Financial Supervisory Commission rejected the claims, saying there was “no concealment” and that regulators intended to make more information visible. It has instructed the Taiwan Stock Exchange to develop a Credit Trading Information Dashboard for launch by the end of the third quarter this year. The platform will consolidate key indicators including outstanding margin financing and aggregate account maintenance ratios, aiming to improve market transparency and help investors assess leverage-related risks.
