Google Launches Gemini-Powered AI Health Coach and Screenless Fitbit Air
Google is folding its existing Fitbit services into Google Health and using Gemini to power Google Health Coach, which connects activity, sleep and personal health data to deliver proactive, personalized recommendations. The move transforms wearables from data trackers into gateways for AI-powered health management and reflects Google’s deeper push into consumer health and subscription services.
Google unveiled Fitbit Air, a screenless wristband designed for round-the-clock wear, on May 7, 2026. Priced at $99.99, it went on sale May 26. Google Health Coach began a phased rollout on May 19 and became fully available on May 26 as part of Google Health Premium, which costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year. The wristband includes a three-month trial.
