Western Union Partners With Crossmint to Launch USDPT Stablecoin on Solana
Western Union and Crossmint have established a digital asset network and launched the U.S. dollar stablecoin USDPT on Solana, initially serving the Philippines and Bolivia. The initiative connects more than 360,000 physical cash pickup locations worldwide, allowing fintech platforms to send cross-border payments in stablecoins and recipients to convert them into cash, reducing reliance on SWIFT.
USDPT began rolling out in May 2026. It is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, with Crossmint providing integration services. Western Union subsequently expanded its network of partners and distribution channels. In the latest development, crypto exchange Bybit joined the USDPT network, helping the stablecoin reach more users and strengthening conversion between on-chain funds and physical cash.
