Coinbase Tests AI Agents for Internal Work as Brian Armstrong Predicts They Will Outnumber Employees
U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is pursuing an “AI-native” transformation, expanding the use of generative AI from software development tools into everyday collaboration. CEO Brian Armstrong believes AI agents can take over repetitive tasks, improve employee efficiency and reshape how technology companies organize their workforces.
Coinbase has recently begun internally testing AI agents named Fred and Balaji in Slack and email to help employees with their work. Armstrong predicts that AI agents will eventually outnumber human employees within the company and has set a goal of having AI write more than 50% of its code. Coinbase has not disclosed the testing dates, budget or deployment timeline.
