Metaplanet CEO Sees Inflation, Weak Yen Igniting Asia’s Bitcoin Cycle

1 reports · First detected 2026-09-04 · Last active 2026-09-04

Japan’s prolonged low-rate environment, persistent inflation and a weaker yen have eroded the appeal of cash savings, encouraging companies and households to consider alternative stores of value. Metaplanet, a Japanese listed company built around a Bitcoin treasury strategy, argues that the shift could mark Asia’s first regionally driven Bitcoin cycle as digital assets gain ground against traditional bank deposits.

Metaplanet’s chief executive told the Bitcoin Asia conference that inflation and yen depreciation were accelerating the movement of Asian capital into digital assets. The company is expanding beyond Bitcoin accumulation through acquisitions involving a securities institution and the overseas-listed entity Superplanet. It also plans to issue yield-bearing financial products, broadening its treasury model into capital-markets and income-generating services.
