OpenAI Engineers Propose Harness Engineering Model for AI-Driven Software Development

OpenAI’s engineering team has proposed “Harness Engineering,” arguing that engineers should shift from writing code line by line to designing tools, execution environments, feedback mechanisms and architectural constraints for AI agents. The concept is significant because competition in software development is expanding beyond model capabilities to whether the surrounding systems can deliver results reliably, safely and continuously.
