Sequoia-Incubated Empirik Raises $21 Million to Predict Outages

1 reports · First detected 2026-09-02 · Last active 2026-09-02

Empirik emerged from a 2023 incubation project at Sequoia Capital, where IT leaders Avon Puri and Sudheer Dhurjati sought to move infrastructure teams from reacting to outages to preventing them. Its platform uses large language models and other AI techniques to track changes across complex technology environments, map system dependencies and infer how an update could ripple through operations. The product is aimed at DevOps and site reliability engineering teams facing a rising volume of software changes.

Empirik said on Sept. 1, 2026, that it had spun out as an independent company after raising $21 million in seed funding from Sequoia Capital, Canapi and Alumni Ventures. The startup is led by Kartik Chandrayana, a former Quantum Metric chief product officer and Salesforce observability vice president. Since launching its product earlier in 2026, Empirik has signed customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies, including S&P Global and Guardant Health.
