Google Unveils Gemini Intelligence, Deepening AI Integration Across Android Ecosystem
Since consolidating Bard and Duet AI under the Gemini brand in 2024, Google has continued embedding generative AI into Android rather than keeping it as a standalone chatbot. Gemini Intelligence can understand on-screen content, voice commands and context across apps, carrying out multistep tasks such as booking restaurants, hailing rides and completing forms. The move positions AI as a core operating-system capability.
Google unveiled Gemini Intelligence on May 12, 2026, with features including cross-app automation, webpage summaries in Chrome, writing refinement in Gboard and natural-language widget creation. The service will first arrive on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones in summer 2026, before expanding to watches, cars, glasses and laptops by year-end.

The history behind this eventGoogle Brings Gemini in Chrome to Android, Adds Automated Browsing
Gemini in Chrome is part of Google’s push to move generative AI beyond standalone chatbots and embed it directly into everyday browsing. The service can interpret and summarize webpages while connecting with other Google services, reducing the need for users to switch between tabs or applications. Its expansion to smartphones is significant because it brings Google’s AI-agent strategy to a broader, mobile-first audience and sharpens competition over assistants that can act on information rather than merely answer questions.
Google said it is rolling out Gemini in Chrome broadly to Android devices in the United States, adding webpage summaries and integrations with Google services. Subscribers to the company’s AI Pro and AI Ultra plans will also gain automated browsing, allowing Gemini to carry out multi-step tasks across websites, including comparing products and making reservations. The rollout marks a shift toward more autonomous browser-based agents, though Google is initially limiting availability to U.S. Android users and paid tiers for the task-execution feature.
Google Launches Personalized Gemini Service in Taiwan With Gmail and Photos Integration
Google’s generative AI assistant Gemini is expanding beyond general-purpose queries into personalized services by connecting, with users’ permission, to data from Gmail, Google Photos and YouTube. The feature can reason across emails, photos and video histories to help organize itineraries and retrieve details from users’ lives, further embedding the AI assistant in Google’s ecosystem.
Google rolled out Gemini’s “Personal Intelligence” service to users in Taiwan in July 2026, initially integrating information from Gmail, Google Photos and YouTube. It also expanded Gemini in Chrome with cross-tab summaries and tighter integration with Google tools. Google said users must actively authorize data connections and that private content will not be used directly to train its models.
