Nvidia Uses AI to Complete Overnight a Chip Design Task That Once Took 10 Months
Chip design and verification rely heavily on engineers repeatedly refining layouts, circuits and performance parameters, a process that often takes months. Nvidia is integrating AI and reinforcement learning into hardware development to shorten development cycles, reduce manual workloads and bring next-generation chips to market faster.
Nvidia recently said AI can now complete overnight a chip design task that previously required eight engineers working for 10 months. The company has also developed specialized large language models, including Chip Nemo and Bug Nemo, to help engineers with design, debugging and verification. It did not disclose the exact announcement date or the amount invested.
