2026 CIO & CISO Survey: AI-Native Architectures Gain Ground as 32% of Enterprises Adopt AI-Augmented Software Engineering

As generative AI moves into software development, data retrieval and process automation, enterprise architectures are advancing from cloud-native to AI-native. The latest 2026 survey found that 32% of enterprises have adopted AI-augmented software engineering. Adoption of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agentic AI has also grown markedly. AI-native technologies have penetrated enterprise IT architectures more deeply than traditional modernization technologies, indicating that large companies are accelerating the integration of AI into core systems and development workflows.
