HOYA BIT Wins BSI Certification as World’s First Carbon-Neutral Crypto Exchange
Cryptocurrency exchanges generate carbon emissions through data centers, IT equipment and office operations. Measuring, reducing and offsetting those emissions has become an important part of sustainability governance in the digital-asset industry. Taiwan’s HOYA BIT incorporated carbon management into its brand framework, with the British Standards Institution, or BSI, verifying its carbon-neutrality results under the ISO 14068-1 standard.
HOYA BIT recently announced that it had secured BSI’s international ISO 14068-1 carbon-neutrality certification, becoming the world’s first cryptocurrency exchange to receive the certification, according to reports. Founder Peng Yun-Hsien said the move was intended to establish verifiable standards for trust and sustainability in the industry. Publicly available information does not disclose the exact certification date, the volume of emissions reduced, the amount of offsets used or the sum invested.

The history behind this eventHOYA BIT Wins Asia FinTech ESG Award in Taiwan First
The Asia FinTech Awards recognize innovation and industry impact across financial technology, with ESG categories assessing how companies embed environmental, social and governance practices into operations. For digital-asset platforms still working to strengthen regulatory credibility and public trust, recognition for sustainability governance can support institutional relationships and signal that competition is expanding beyond trading products, liquidity and fees to include accountability and corporate responsibility.
Taiwan cryptocurrency exchange HOYA BIT won the “Best ESG Campaign” award on its first entry into the Asia FinTech Awards, becoming the first Taiwanese crypto exchange to receive the distinction. Judges highlighted the company’s greenhouse-gas inventory work, carbon-neutrality efforts and third-party verification. The report did not specify the award ceremony’s date, and organizers disclosed no monetary prize, but the recognition marks a notable ESG milestone for Taiwan’s digital-asset sector.
