Bitcoin-Holding SpaceX to Join Nasdaq-100 Index
The Nasdaq-100 Index comprises the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq market, and changes to its constituents prompt funds tracking the benchmark to rebalance accordingly. Elon Musk’s SpaceX, founded in 2002, operates in space transportation and artificial intelligence and holds Bitcoin as a corporate asset. Its inclusion also shapes market perceptions of corporate cryptocurrency holdings.
CoinDesk reported on July 6, 2026, that SpaceX (SPCX) was scheduled to join the Nasdaq-100 on July 7. With 18,712 Bitcoin, it would become the index’s fourth Bitcoin-holding constituent after Tesla, Strategy and Mercado Libre. Its weighting was expected to exceed those of the latter two companies. Rebalancing by passive funds could boost demand for SpaceX shares, but would not amount to direct Bitcoin purchases.
