Musk Denies Rumor SpaceX Is Secretly Developing AI Handheld Device
SpaceX’s core businesses are rockets and the Starlink satellite network, while Musk’s xAI focuses on generative AI. Combining an AI handheld device with a terrestrial mobile network and satellite communications could take the two companies into markets dominated by Apple and telecommunications carriers, drawing investor attention to reports of a prototype.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that SpaceX had shown investors an AI prototype powered by xAI technology and featuring a body thinner than an iPhone. The company was also said to be considering building a terrestrial mobile network. The report did not disclose the date of the presentation, the investment amount or a mass-production timetable. Musk promptly responded on X that the report was “completely false,” denying that SpaceX was secretly developing the device.
