China Chemical & Pharmaceutical Signs First Sustainability-Linked Syndicated Loan

1 reports · First detected 2026-06-23 · Last active 2026-06-23

China Chemical & Pharmaceutical was founded in 1952 and has spent more than 70 years developing and manufacturing medicines and providing CDMO services. It has also expanded capacity under Taiwan’s domestic drug production policy to strengthen local supplies of essential medicines. Its first sustainability-linked syndicated loan ties financing costs directly to its performance in carbon reduction and resource management, underscoring the spread of ESG mechanisms into the pharmaceutical industry.

On June 23, 2026, Taipei Fubon Bank and Mega International Commercial Bank signed a seven-year, NT$5 billion syndicated credit facility for China Chemical & Pharmaceutical as joint lead arrangers. Eleven financial institutions participated, with subscriptions reaching 2.35 times the target. The funds will refinance existing borrowings and bolster medium-term working capital, while interest-rate terms are linked to indicators covering greenhouse-gas emissions, water resources and waste management.
