Thredd Powers Pliant’s U.S. Embedded Finance Expansion
Founded in 2020 and based in Berlin, Pliant offers an API-first platform spanning corporate credit cards, expense management and white-label embedded finance. It serves more than 4,000 businesses and over 20 partners, issuing cards in 12 currencies across more than 30 countries. Expansion into the United States, one of the world’s largest commercial-card markets, allows Pliant to extend its direct offering and provide financial-software companies, ERP providers and banks with infrastructure to embed business payments.
Pliant announced its official U.S. launch on July 14, 2026, expanding its existing processing relationship with Thredd. The service is live on the Visa network, with Coastal Community Bank acting as sponsor bank and providing the regulated banking foundation for nationwide scale. The platform supports instant card issuance, programmable spending controls and real-time cash-flow visibility. Coastal Community Bank had $4.74 billion in assets, according to the announcement; the companies did not disclose commercial terms, launch volumes or initial customer numbers.
