OpenAI-Backed Thrive Holdings Raises $2 Billion for Enterprise AI Push

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-13 · Last active 2026-08-13

Founded by Joshua Kushner’s Thrive Capital in 2025, Thrive Holdings uses a private-equity-style strategy to acquire and build businesses in traditional service industries, initially accounting and IT. The model targets sectors with large revenue pools and repetitive, rules-based workflows that remain lightly digitized. OpenAI took an equity stake on December 1, 2025, and agreed to embed research, product and engineering teams to improve speed, accuracy and costs across portfolio companies.

Thrive Holdings said on August 13, 2026, that it raised more than $2 billion from investors including SoftBank, Altimeter Capital and D1 Capital Partners, valuing the company at $12 billion after the financing. The round is its first from outside investors and follows $1 billion previously committed by existing Thrive Capital backers. The fresh capital will support further acquisitions and wider deployment of AI tools across the acquired companies’ operating workflows.
