Iran Threatens Strike on Abu Dhabi Stargate AI Data Center

Stargate is a planned $30 billion AI data center in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, with construction not expected to begin until the second half of 2026. The large-scale advanced computing facility is central to the region's AI ambitions, making its security a concern for technology supply chains and cross-border investment confidence as conflict escalates in the Middle East.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps recently warned the United States that it had designated Abu Dhabi's Stargate as a potential target for retaliation. As of July 19, 2026, however, construction of the $30 billion facility had not begun. Iran also rejected a proposed 45-day ceasefire and set out 10 conditions, showing that geopolitical threats have extended to AI infrastructure that remains in the planning stage.
