Taiwan Labor Funds Earn NT$2.2 Trillion as AI Rally Lifts Stocks

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-03 · Last active 2026-08-03

Taiwan’s labor funds pool assets supporting worker pensions and social insurance, making their investment performance a key gauge of the system’s long-term financial resilience. Global markets swung sharply in the first half amid geopolitical tensions and uncertainty over U.S. monetary policy. Taiwan equities nevertheless remained strong as sustained artificial-intelligence demand lifted semiconductor makers and the broader technology supply chain, providing the main engine for a surge in portfolio returns.

As of end-June, assets managed across the labor funds totaled NT$8.8955 trillion, according to the Bureau of Labor Funds. Investment income reached NT$2.2024 trillion in the first half, equivalent to a 28.46% return. The bureau said it would continue monitoring global political and economic developments and financial-market conditions, while maintaining risk controls and pursuing stable investment performance over the long term.
