Michael Saylor’s Strategy Accelerates Bitcoin Sales, Raises $216 Million
Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy and led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, has treated bitcoin as a core treasury asset since August 2020, steadily adding to its holdings through debt and equity issuance to become the world’s largest corporate holder. The latest sale breaks with its longstanding image as a buyer that never sells and shows bitcoin increasingly being used to meet dividend and cash needs.
Strategy disclosed to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on July 6, 2026, that it sold 3,588 bitcoin from June 29 through July 5, raising about $216 million at an average price of roughly $60,000. Its holdings fell to 843,775 bitcoin after the transactions. As of July 5, its U.S. dollar reserve stood at $2.55 billion, with the proceeds used to pay preferred-stock dividends and replenish cash reserves.
