Bitcoin Rally Lifts Strategy to $1.4 Billion Unrealized Gain
Strategy, led by co-founder and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, has become the defining corporate Bitcoin treasury company after funding years of purchases through equity and debt issuance. Its large exposure makes the gap between Bitcoin’s market price and Strategy’s average acquisition cost a key gauge of balance-sheet strength, financing capacity and investor appetite for MSTR shares. The gains remain unrealized and would fluctuate with Bitcoin’s price.
As of Aug. 21, 2026, Strategy held 840,447 Bitcoin bought at an average price of $75,385. A five-day rally of nearly 23% lifted Bitcoin to about $77,000, valuing the stake at roughly $64.97 billion and producing an unrealized gain of about $1.4 billion, or 2.4%. That marked a sharp reversal from July, when Bitcoin traded near $58,000 and the position was approximately $13 billion underwater.
