Women Creators Reclaim Financial Autonomy Through Web3 Payment Rails

1 reports · First detected 2026-03-30 · Last active 2026-03-30

Women creators have long faced irregular income, credit-scoring barriers and obstacles to cross-border banking, particularly in emerging markets, where creative work is often their main livelihood. Female-founded companies received just 2.3% of venture capital funding in 2024, while some platforms take as much as 50% of creators’ earnings. That makes Web3 payment rails, which enable direct settlement and automated revenue sharing while preserving resale royalties, more significant.

In a commentary published by Cointelegraph on March 30, 2026, Mercuryo Chief Customer Officer Ashna Vaghela and World of Women CEO Vi Powils said smart contracts can distribute funds directly to creators’ wallets when a transaction is completed, replacing payment cycles that can last up to 90 days. The report did not disclose the value of individual transactions.
