Anthropic Launches Claude for Word Beta, Deepening AI Integration With Microsoft Office

Anthropic is embedding Claude into Microsoft 365, moving it beyond a standalone chat tool and allowing businesses to use generative AI without leaving their document workflows. Claude for Word can understand an entire document, preserve formatting and display edits through Track Changes. It can also share context with Excel and PowerPoint, marking a shift toward an embedded enterprise AI assistant.

Anthropic opened the Word beta to Team and Enterprise users on April 10, 2026, before expanding access to Pro and Max users on May 27. Users can draft and edit documents and respond to comments from a sidebar, with revisions displayed through Track Changes. The Pro plan costs $20 a month and can pull data from Excel into Word or turn documents into PowerPoint presentations.
