MediaTek CEO Touts Taiwan’s Speed and Scale in AI Era

The artificial-intelligence boom is increasing demand for computing infrastructure spanning advanced chips, foundry capacity and connected devices. MediaTek Chief Executive Rick Tsai said Taiwan’s tightly integrated semiconductor ecosystem — including IC design, wafer fabrication and hardware suppliers — gives the island an advantage in turning new technologies into mass-produced products. Its ability to respond flexibly, move quickly and scale production has become increasingly important as global companies race to deploy AI.

Tsai said Taiwan’s role in the AI era extends beyond efficient manufacturing to serving as a core provider of global hardware infrastructure. MediaTek plans to deepen work in three areas: AI chips, agentic AI and robotics, while collaborating with international partners on technology development and commercialization. He framed Taiwan’s combination of design expertise, foundry capabilities and supply-chain coordination as a platform for creating shared gains across the global AI ecosystem.
