Binance Bets on Payments to Build Crypto Super App
Founded in July 2017, Binance grew into one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges by making token trading its core business. Nine years on, the company is looking beyond trading as competition intensifies and stablecoins gain traction for moving value. Its planned “super app” would bring payments, transfers and other financial services into a single platform, aiming to reduce the cost and complexity that still burden crypto users and conventional cross-border finance.
As Binance marked its ninth anniversary in July 2026, executives said payments would anchor the company’s next phase of growth, with stablecoins expected to drive wider adoption for purchases and remittances. The strategy recasts Binance as a broader financial-services platform rather than a venue centered on token transactions. The company has not disclosed an investment amount or a deadline for completing the shift, leaving execution milestones and the eventual scope of the super app unspecified.
