Ex-Royal Mint Executives Launch Goldwise to Modernise Bullion Investing

1 reports · First detected 2026-05-01 · Last active 2026-05-01

Goldwise was founded by former Royal Mint executives Jatin Patel and Gareth Tucker to address friction in physical precious-metals investing. Traditional bullion dealers can impose high mark-ups, large minimum purchases and cumbersome processes, while ETFs and tokenised products may provide price exposure without direct ownership of allocated metal. The founders, who previously helped expand The Royal Mint’s precious-metals business and launch a gold-backed exchange-traded product, are positioning Goldwise as digital infrastructure for both retail investors and wealth platforms.

Goldwise launched its mobile trading platform on April 24, 2026, offering fractional purchases of LBMA-approved gold, silver, platinum and palladium bars from £5, equivalent to 0.001 troy ounces. The service provides round-the-clock trading, conditional orders and real-time portfolio tracking, with holdings reconciled daily and stored in insured, audited vaults. The company also secured more than £500,000 in equity financing: £250,000 from the Wales Angel Co-Fund, managed by Angels Invest Wales, and £255,000 from a business-angel syndicate.
