Tassat Plans Stablecoin Reserve Marketplace for Smaller Banks

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-24 · Last active 2026-07-24

Stablecoins, typically backed by cash and short-dated government securities, are creating a fast-growing reserve-management business for banks. Tassat, which built Signature Bank’s former Signet blockchain payments network, is targeting regional and midsize U.S. lenders that often lack the technology, compliance staff and pricing expertise to serve issuers. Its proposal matters because spreading reserves across more institutions could keep deposits and liquidity from becoming concentrated among a handful of Wall Street banks as tokenized finance expands.

On July 23, 2026, Tassat unveiled Project NENYA, formally the Smart Reserve Management & Execution Engine, alongside a white paper, with a go-live targeted for early 2027 and pilots planned for the first half. The marketplace would let banks bid for reserve deposits while regulated issuers allocate funds among cash deposits and tokenized high-quality liquid assets, with tools to monitor pricing, liquidity and counterparty exposure. Citi estimates the stablecoin market could reach about $4 trillion by 2030.
