Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 Foldables
Samsung Electronics pioneered foldable smartphones and is now on the eighth generation of its Galaxy Z line. The launch matters as competition broadens beyond early adopters: Google has invested in the category, while Apple is expected to release its first foldable iPhone later in 2026. Samsung is widening its lineup to defend its lead in premium foldables while offering distinct large-screen productivity and compact clamshell designs.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its Unpacked event in London on July 22, with sales starting Aug. 7. The 7.6-inch Fold 8 adopts a shorter, wider 4:3 main display and starts at $1,899.99 in the U.S.; the 8-inch Ultra starts at $2,099.99, while the 6.9-inch Flip 8 starts at $1,199.99. New software includes Gemini Intelligence and an AI-native FlexWindow for quicker actions.
