Trump’s Board of Peace Mulls Stablecoin to Rebuild Gaza’s Economy
Gaza’s payment and financial infrastructure has been severely damaged after two years of war between Israel and Hamas. The Board of Peace led by U.S. President Donald Trump is responsible for coordinating governance and reconstruction. A U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin could support digital transactions amid cash shortages and limited banking services, although arrangements for issuance, reserves and regulation would still need to be addressed.
The Financial Times reported on February 23, 2026, citing five people familiar with the matter, that the Board of Peace was in preliminary discussions about a U.S. dollar stablecoin for Gaza. No issuer, launch date or amount has been determined. On February 19, nine members had pledged $7 billion in aid and reconstruction funding, while Trump separately announced a $10 billion contribution from the United States.
