Travala Launches AI Agent Booking Protocol With USDC Payments on Base

1 reports · First detected 2026-06-06 · Last active 2026-06-06

Travala, a travel-booking platform that accepts cryptocurrency, is opening hotel searches, inventory queries and payments to AI agents. The new protocol uses Coinbase-backed Base and the U.S. dollar stablecoin USDC in an effort to reduce settlement costs and waiting times for cross-border travel transactions. The move also reflects the shift by AI agents from retrieving information to carrying out commercial transactions on users’ behalf.

Travala has launched a booking protocol that connects to hotel inventory through the Model Context Protocol. AI agents can search for rooms on Base and pay with USDC, which is pegged at roughly 1:1 to the U.S. dollar, with transactions offering low costs and near-instant settlement. As of July 20, 2026, however, users must still manually authorize final payments. Travala did not disclose transaction values or a formal launch date.
