Nexon Parent NXC Systematically Exits Crypto Exchange Holdings, Selling Bitstamp and Korbit Stakes

2 reports · First detected 2026-04-13 · Last active 2026-04-13

NXC, the holding company of MapleStory developer Nexon, acquired a stake of more than 60% in Korbit for about 91.3 billion won in 2017 and bought European exchange Bitstamp in 2018. It also invested about $100 million in Bitcoin in 2021. Subsequent crypto-market volatility and intensifying competition among exchanges prompted the group to reallocate its assets.

NXC disclosed in its 2025 financial statements that it had completed the sale of its Bitstamp stake to Robinhood, which closed the roughly $200 million transaction in June 2025. NXC also decided to sell its entire Korbit stake, ending its exchange investments. As of the financial disclosure, Nexon still held 2,356 Bitcoin, with the position down about 15% from its original $100 million investment.
