U.S. Bank Drives Revenue Growth With BTIG Acquisition and Amazon Partnership
U.S. Bank has sought to diversify its revenue streams in recent years and reduce its reliance on traditional interest-margin businesses. The bank acquired investment bank BTIG to strengthen its capital-markets operations and partnered with e-commerce giant Amazon to expand its digital-finance offerings. The two-pronged strategy is a key step in optimizing its business mix, demonstrating the traditional lender’s commitment to transformation while offering midsize and large banks an innovative model for cross-sector partnerships and acquisitions in the highly competitive fintech era.
U.S. Bank said in July 2026 that revenue from BTIG exceeded expectations in the first month after the acquisition, significantly increasing the contribution from its capital-markets business. The bank also launched a new co-branded credit-card partnership with Amazon that is expected to generate more than $1 billion in annual revenue growth for the two companies. U.S. Bank plans to further expand its physical branch network in high-growth markets during the second half of the year, combining digital and in-person channels to continue driving overall revenue and profit growth.
