Warren Buffett’s $17 Billion Treasury Purchase Fuels Bitcoin Crash Fears

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-02 · Last active 2026-04-02

Berkshire Hathaway has long been known for holding substantial liquidity while waiting for opportunities to invest at lower prices. Its cash and cash equivalents reached $373 billion at the end of 2025, more than double the 2023 level. The market has therefore interpreted Warren Buffett’s growing cash position as a warning that risk assets, including stocks and Bitcoin, may be overvalued.

A report on April 1, 2026, said Buffett had recently told CNBC that Berkshire Hathaway bought about $17 billion in U.S. Treasury bills in the latest auction round. He also said the recent decline remained modest compared with past crashes of more than 50%. At the time, the S&P 500 was down about 5.75% from its January high, adding to concerns about downside risks for Bitcoin.
