Financial Firms Scale AI Across 27 Business Tasks
Artificial intelligence is moving from pilot projects into routine operations at large financial institutions, gaining the most traction in structured, auditable workflows tied to revenue, risk and compliance. PYMNTS Intelligence measured deployment across 75 AI-supported tasks in eight business functions, offering a view of whether companies are merely experimenting with the technology or adopting it at scale.
The March 2026 survey covered 60 senior technology executives at U.S. enterprises with at least $1 billion in annual revenue, with findings published on May 13. Financial services and insurance reached high adoption in 27 tasks, versus 16 in media and advertising and 10 in healthcare. AI use reached 65% for revenue recognition and accounting close, and 60% for both credit risk assessment and sales forecasting. Some 85% plan to increase AI budgets over the next 12 months.
