Nvidia’s Huang Pledges $75 Million for Vanderbilt San Francisco Arts College

Vanderbilt University is establishing the Jen-Hsun and Lori Huang College of Art, Architecture and Design as the flagship school of its planned San Francisco campus. The college will build on the nearly 120-year legacy of California College of the Arts, whose campus Vanderbilt is acquiring after the institution winds down. By combining art and humanities with engineering, entrepreneurship and design, Vanderbilt aims to train creative professionals at the intersection of cultural expression and technological innovation.

On July 21, 2026, Vanderbilt said Nvidia founder and Chief Executive Jensen Huang and his wife, Lori, had committed a $75 million matching gift through their family foundation. The pledge has helped bring total investment in the new college to more than $100 million. CCA will continue teaching through the 2026-27 academic year, and Vanderbilt plans to open the college in fall 2027, subject to regulatory and accreditation approvals. The broader San Francisco campus is expected to accommodate about 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
