Cathay Financial Partners With OpenAI to Build Agentic AI Workstation

Cathay Financial Holdings is moving generative AI beyond isolated trials and into group-wide use through what it says is the first strategic partnership between OpenAI and Taiwan’s financial sector. The initiative covers highly regulated areas including corporate banking and insurance. It will use agentic AI to connect workflows, improve internal operational efficiency and explore new financial-services models.

Cathay Financial recently announced the adoption of ChatGPT Enterprise and plans to work with OpenAI to build an enterprise AI workstation and intelligent agent engine capable of assisting with multi-step tasks. The companies have not disclosed the value of the agreement, the exact signing date, the scale of deployment or the date of the formal launch. Its impact will still need to be validated with data from real-world applications.
