Visa Launches Intelligent Authorization to Upgrade Payment Infrastructure
As digital wallets, stablecoins and AI-powered agentic commerce increase transaction volumes and data complexity, Visa has integrated Visa Intelligent Authorization into the Visa Acceptance Platform. Acquirers can use a single API to process transactions across major card networks without completely rebuilding existing systems, lowering the barrier to modernization particularly for small and midsize providers.
Visa announced the service for eligible acquirers on March 9, 2026, and expanded it to Europe on March 19. The system supports emerging payment methods and can serve as either a primary processor or a supplementary solution. Visa reports a reliability rate of 99.999% and a global average authorization rate of 96.3%, but has not disclosed implementation costs or associated transaction values.
