OpenAI, Amazon Reach Deal to Bring GPT-5.5 to Amazon Bedrock

Amazon Bedrock is AWS’s managed platform for enterprises to select and deploy generative AI models. OpenAI’s arrival on the platform signals a change in its exclusive cloud partnership with Microsoft. Enterprises will be able to combine GPT-5.5 and Codex with AWS infrastructure to build AI agents directly.

As of July 19, 2026, Amazon and OpenAI had reached a new agreement to make GPT-5.5 and the Codex coding tool available on Amazon Bedrock and introduce OpenAI-powered Managed Agents. The companies have not disclosed the value of the agreement or a full rollout timetable for the services.
