Vikar, SWIVEL Partner on Instant Account Funding
Funding is a critical but often fragmented stage of digital account opening: requiring customers to move money after enrollment can increase abandonment and delay the conversion of applicants into active account holders. Vikar Technologies provides digital account-opening and lending tools to financial institutions, while SWIVEL, a subsidiary of SWBC, operates payment-processing infrastructure. Their partnership seeks to embed compliant funding into onboarding, reducing manual work, fraud exposure and reconciliation friction for banks and fintech partners.
Vikar announced the strategic partnership on Aug. 27, 2026, integrating SWIVEL’s API-driven payments platform into its account-opening ecosystem. Financial institutions can accept new-account funding from checking and savings accounts as well as credit and debit cards. Card transactions are authorized immediately after submission, while bank accounts can be debited as early as the next business day. The service also provides real-time ACH validation, NACHA- and PCI-compliant processing, automated posting and daily reconciliation reports. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The history behind this eventVikar Integrates Plaid to Streamline Bank Account Opening
Vikar Technologies, a provider of digital banking technology to financial institutions, is integrating Plaid to improve identity and account verification during bank account opening. Plaid’s financial-data connectivity can reduce the need for applicants to enter information manually, helping banks accelerate reviews and deliver a smoother digital onboarding experience as customers increasingly expect financial services to be completed online.
Vikar Technologies said its Plaid integration will allow participating financial institutions to verify users and connect existing bank accounts more quickly within the opening process. As of Aug. 5, 2026, the announcement did not disclose the value of the agreement, a production launch date, the number of institutions expected to adopt the service, or quantified reductions in processing time. Its impact will depend on implementation and customer uptake.
