Ant International Secures Brazil Payment Institution Licence

Brazil is one of Latin America’s most developed digital-payments markets, anchored by the Central Bank of Brazil’s widely adopted PIX instant-payment system. Ant International already serves merchants in the country through Antom, its merchant payment and digitalisation platform, which supports PIX, credit cards and alternative payment methods. A Payment Institution licence gives the company a stronger regulatory foundation for expanding local and cross-border payment and account services in the region’s largest economy.

Ant International said on Sept. 4, 2026, that it had received the licence from the Central Bank of Brazil, without disclosing any related investment amount. The approval will help the company broaden payment and account services for enterprises, platforms and small and medium-sized businesses. Ant International said its digital-payment ecosystem processes more than 20 million transactions a day and connects 2 billion consumer accounts with 150 million merchants worldwide.
