DoorDash Taps Astra to Bring Instant Deposits to Dashers
DoorDash launched DoorDash Crimson in October 2024 as an embedded banking product for its delivery workers, or Dashers, combining earnings access, a Visa debit card and money management within the Dasher app. Accounts are provided by Starion Bank, with Fiserv supporting the infrastructure. Astra, meanwhile, secured a $10 million strategic investment from Nyca Partners in February 2026 to scale its Payment Cloud.
Astra said on July 22, 2026, that DoorDash Crimson had integrated its Payment Cloud, allowing Dashers to move funds from external accounts in real time through Visa Direct and Mastercard Send. The deployment also covers payment execution, workflow automation, optimized card authorization, embedded risk controls and automated treasury functions through a single API. Astra said the infrastructure can support millions of transfers; financial terms of the DoorDash agreement were not disclosed.
