Pump.fun Caps Creator Fee Redirects at One

Pump.fun is a memecoin launchpad in the Solana ecosystem whose creator fees are generated by token trading and distributed to creators. The platform has acknowledged that its previous system over-rewarded issuers and weakened incentives for traders. Its fees fell by about 75% to $31.8 million in January 2026 from $148 million in January 2025, underscoring the importance of overhauling its revenue-sharing and trust mechanisms.

Pump.fun announced on March 25, 2026, that the recipient address for each token's creator fees may be redirected only once after launch, after which the setting is permanently locked. Co-founder Alon Cohen said the measure is intended to curb griefing through recipient changes after a token becomes popular. The platform previously launched Cashback Coins on February 17, requiring issuers to choose at launch whether fees would go to creators or traders.
