Google Adds AI Chatbot to Personalize Discover Feeds
Google Discover is a personalized content feed within the Google App, recommending news, videos and other material based on a user’s interests and activity. A conversational AI interface could give people more direct control over those recommendations, reducing their reliance on clicks and buried preference settings. The move also shows how Google is extending generative AI beyond search answers into the systems that determine which content users encounter.
Google said it will introduce an AI chatbot that lets users describe what they want to see in their Discover feed. The system will use those conversations to automatically refine recommendations and remember stated preferences for future sessions, creating a more tailored stream of content. Google has not disclosed an exact launch date, initial markets, supported languages or usage targets for the feature, which is slated to appear in the Google App.
