Meta Tests StoryKit AI App for Personalized Bedtime Stories

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-22 · Last active 2026-07-22

Meta is extending generative AI into family entertainment with StoryKit, an app designed to help parents create personalized children’s stories. Users can turn a photo of a favorite toy or person into a character, then choose a setting, lesson and music. The experiment highlights Big Tech’s push into AI-assisted creativity while raising questions about the technology’s role in bedtime routines and parent-child interaction.

Meta is piloting StoryKit in select countries to gauge parents’ response, TechCrunch reported on July 21, 2026, after the app was spotted by 9to5Mac. The app can weave values such as kindness, courage or empathy into illustrated stories without requiring users to write the narrative. Meta said StoryKit includes AI safety filters, has no social features and is restricted to users aged 18 or older. The company did not disclose how many markets or users are included in the test.
