Taiwan Taxi Uses AI Dispatch as Low-Carbon Fleet Share Hits 60%

Taiwan Taxi’s 55688 service is pursuing a two-track strategy combining AI-powered “hotspot optimization” with a lower-carbon vehicle fleet. The system forecasts passenger demand by location and improves dispatch routes, helping drivers spend less time cruising without fares. That matters for a large taxi operator because reducing empty mileage can cut energy consumption and emissions while raising vehicle utilization and operating efficiency.

Lower-carbon vehicles now account for 60% of Taiwan Taxi’s overall fleet, marking the latest milestone in the company’s sustainability drive. The operator is expanding the use of AI demand forecasting and more precise dispatching to further reduce unnecessary travel. Taiwan Taxi is targeting more than 400,000 metric tons of carbon reduction in 2026 as it seeks to shrink the environmental footprint of its fleet operations.
