1 reports · First detected 2026-08-25 · Last active 2026-08-25

American Savings Bank has served Hawaii since 1925 and operates 35 branches across the state, making it Hawaii’s third-largest bank. Former parent Hawaiian Electric Industries sold a 90.1% stake for $405.45 million in December 2024, valuing the lender at about $450 million, while retaining 9.9%. The proposed offering would give investors direct access to the locally focused community bank following its separation from the utility group.

The Honolulu-based lender said on Aug. 24, 2026, that it had publicly filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for an initial public offering of common stock. American Savings Bank has applied to list on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “ASBH.” The number of shares, proposed price range, fundraising target and listing date have not been set, and completion remains subject to market conditions.
